Nice article on the HTC Flyer.
OK then, time for a blog entry!
The HTC Flyer tablet was announced today at MWC in Barcelona. It joins a pretty crowded tablet market which is dominated by the Google Android OS. The Flyer is different to most though, it is not running the latest version for tablets (3.0 Honeycomb) but 2.4 Gingerbread with HTC’s Sense on top. It will be a slightly different experience to the HTC Sense on phones as it has much more space to fill. However it should work as easily and be just as intuitive as their phones.
Specs wise the tablet sits at the lower end of what’s available. It has a 7” Super LCD and a trademark HTC uni-body aluminium enclosure so it should stand out from the crowd!
The processor is a single core 1.5GHz Snapdragon. It has 1GB of ram and a decent 32GB of internal memory. There is a 5mp cam on the back and a 1.3mp cam on the front for video calling. It appears to have Skype built in looking at the photos and video’s already on the internet.
To stand out from the crowd even more HTC are including a pen stylus which can be used to take notes on any screen. This feature can be synchronised with popular note taking services. It also includes a program called Timemark which will record audio as you take notes and play back whatever it had recorded at a particular time by just tapping on parts of the “E-Ink”. This seems a bit of a copy of a livescribe pen.
HTC has launched a new video service called HTC Watch, it will let you buy or rent movies in HD quality from main studios. OnLive the cloud gaming service is also confirmed to be coming to the device, which will allow the device to stream games to it via a broadband connection.
Pricing has not been confirmed but it is expected to cost around £500, putting it in line with the iPad!
